Classic Stainless Steel Multi-Purpose Screws
Stainless steel screws designed for corrosion-resistant fixing in internal, external and corrosive environments.
About Classic Stainless Steel Wood Screws
Classic Stainless Steel Wood Screws are multi-purpose fixings designed to deliver reliable performance and long-term corrosion resistance across a wide range of trade applications.
Manufactured from A2 and A4 stainless steel, this range offers dependable fixing solutions where standard plated screws may be unsuitable due to moisture exposure, corrosive materials or environmental conditions.
These screws retain the proven Classic screw design, providing consistent handling and secure fixing across common building materials.
Choosing Between A2 and A4 Stainless Steel
Selecting the correct stainless steel grade is essential for durability and performance:
A2 stainless steel screws are suitable for:
- Internal applications
- Kitchens, bathrooms and utility areas
- Sheltered external environments
- General joinery and fit-out work
They provide excellent corrosion resistance for most standard applications.
A4 Stainless Steel (Marine Grade)
A4 stainless steel screws are recommended for:
- Coastal and marine environments
- Exposed external installations
- Highly corrosive or damp conditions
- Fixing into corrosive timbers such as green oak
A4 offers the highest level of corrosion resistance in the Classic range and is designed for long-term durability in harsh conditions.
Countersunk and Pan Head Options
The Classic Stainless Steel range includes both countersunk and pan head designs to suit different fixing requirements:
- Countersunk screws provide a clean, flush finish where appearance matters
- Pan head screws offer improved clamping and load distribution where countersinking is not required
Both head types are designed for consistent drive performance and secure fixing.
Suitable for Multiple Materials
Classic Stainless Steel Wood Screws are suitable for fixing into:
- Softwood
- Hardwood (pre-drilled where required)
- Chipboard and MDF
- Plastics
- Thin sheet metal
Stainless steel fixings are particularly important where the base material has inherent corrosive characteristics or where staining must be avoided.
Key Design Features
Across the range, Classic Stainless Steel Wood Screws incorporate practical fixing features, including:
- Sharp points for fast pick-up and improved thread acceptance
- 40° deep single thread for secure fixing with good pull-out resistance
- Double countersunk heads (where applicable) to assist smooth countersinking and reduce head shear
- Single slash points (25mm and above) to reduce driving torque and help minimise timber splitting
All sizes up to and including 75mm are fully threaded, while 80mm and above feature a 70mm thread length, helping balance drive performance and fixing strength.
