What are surface protection films used for?

Self-adhesive protection films provide temporary coverage for finished surfaces while building, decorating, fit-out or refurbishment work is taking place. They help protect against spills, dirt, dust, debris and foot traffic while remaining securely in position during the job.

Unlike loose coverings, self-adhesive film sits directly against the compatible surface underneath. Different adhesives and films are designed for different surfaces, so it is important to choose the correct product for carpet, hard floors or glass.

Which surface protection film do I need?

Choosing the correct film for the surface underneath is important. Carpet, hard-floor and glass protection films are designed for their intended surfaces and should not be treated as interchangeable.

Carpet protection film is designed to adhere securely to carpet while helping protect against dirt, spills, debris and foot traffic during site work.

Hard surface protection film is designed for compatible hard floors and surfaces, providing close-fitting temporary protection against spills, debris and site traffic.

Glass protection film is designed for windows and suitable glass surfaces, helping protect against plaster, paint, dust and debris during construction and decorating.

Carpet protection film

Our carpet protection films provide self-adhesive temporary coverage during decorating, construction, refurbishment, removals and fit-out work.

Timco carpet protection film is reverse wound for quick, one-person application and is available in 25m and 100m roll lengths. It provides waterproof temporary protection and can remain in place for up to 30 days before clean removal when used in accordance with the product instructions.

Taktec® Carpet Protector provides a heavy-duty option for demanding applications, with a waterproof, anti-slip and anti-trip design and adhesive developed to hold securely to carpet without leaving sticky residue after removal.

Hard floor protection film

Hard surface protection films provide self-adhesive temporary protection for compatible finished surfaces during building and decorating work.

Timco Hard Surface Protective Film is available in 25m and 50m roll lengths and is reverse wound for quick application. It provides lightweight, waterproof protection against spills, dirt, debris and foot traffic and removes cleanly for up to 30 days when used as directed.

Important: Timco Hard Surface Protective Film is not suitable for marble.

Taktec® Hard Floor Protector provides a heavy-duty option suitable for compatible wood, laminate, tiles and finished worktops. Its waterproof, anti-slip and anti-trip construction helps protect surfaces during demanding site and refurbishment work.

Glass protection film

Glass protection film helps protect windows and other compatible glass surfaces against paint, plaster, dust and debris while construction, decorating or refurbishment work is underway.

Timco Protective Film for Glass is suitable for internal and external windows and is available in 25m and 50m roll lengths. The reverse-wound film is lightweight, waterproof and designed for quick application and clean removal for up to 30 days when used as directed.

Taktec® Glass Protector provides a heavy-duty 100m option. Its clear film allows natural light and visibility through the protected glass while providing waterproof protection against common site contaminants.

How long can Timco protection film be left in place?

Can hard floor protection film be used on marble?
Timco Hard Surface Protective Film is specifically stated as not suitable for marble. Always check the individual product instructions and surface compatibility before applying adhesive film to a finished floor.

Can protection film be used on windows?
Yes, but a dedicated glass protection film should be used. Our Timco and Taktec® glass protection films are designed to help protect suitable glass surfaces against paint, plaster, dust and debris during building and decorating work.

What is the difference between protection film and protection board?
Protection film is self-adhesive and provides lightweight, close-fitting coverage for compatible surfaces. Protection board provides a more substantial physical barrier and is generally better suited to demanding floor protection and heavier site traffic.

Are surface protection films waterproof?
